At the age of 14, I began my formal training under Grand Master Chang Soo Lim in Saginaw, Michigan. Lim instantly knew that I was in it for the long haul, taking me under his wing and providing me with the mentoring I needed as a young man. Studying under Lim, I learned both Tae Kwon Do and Hap Ki Do (Korean Judo). With a tremendous amount of hard work and dedication, I soon began leading classes.

Under Grand Master Lim, I went on to earn my first black belt in 1976, followed by a 3rd degree in 1979, 4th degree in 1988 and ultimately an 8th degree in 2008. During this period of time, I also attended Delta College and received my associate’s degree in business administration. Since then I’ve coached and mentored thousands of students and tried to provide them with a better life.

Without Grand Master Lim, his guidance and training; I wouldn’t be the man that I am today. Grand Master Lim forever changed the path my life took.

Thank you Grand Master Lim, and may you rest in peace. None of this would have been possible without you.
